UniverSOUL Hip Hop upholds longtime and flourishing partnerships with agencies such as The Music Center of Los Angeles County, Segerstrom Center for The Performing Arts, Newhall Unified School District, and the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Other current partners of ours include Vista Del Mar, Free 2 Be Me, Little Tokyo Service Center and The Children’s Collective.

sample program

Family Nights are our communal event that brings people of all ages together to celebrate the UniverSOUL culture, power, and joy of Hip Hop/street dance.  The evening is facilitated by an MC, dancers, and a live DJ.

Sample activities include student performances, freestyle performance by UniverSOUL artists, community dance workshop, history, and/or audience engagement.

supporting communities

We partnered with Reach Up Reach Out (RURO) and Smile Africa in July 2023 to bring a summer arts camp to over 200 orphans and a sisterhood conference to over 1,500 widows in Tororo, Uganda.

Community partners Reach a Hand Uganda and Energy in Action , in collaboration with the University of Southern California, co-organized events in Uganda to bring together youth, local community organizations, non-profit organizations and other experts to prevent future HIV-infections among youth, support people living with HIV, and commemorate those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses. To support their efforts, we joined the #DanceforChange challenge to bring together dance groups from Uganda, Los Angeles, and beyond, fostering a global movement to raise awareness about HIV.

making connections

UniverSOUL often acts as a liaison between our larger partners and local artists in an effort to highlight historically marginalized communities and foster new collaborations.

For example, UniverSOUL partnered with The Music Center (TMC) in 2023 to curate and produce a summer arts engagement on TMC’s plaza, and we had the privilege of connecting TMC with local street dance artists, alumni from USC Kaufman School of Dance, and Everything Raw - a new multi-arts movement born in Leimert Park.

By leveraging our diverse partnerships, a developing arts group now has the opportunity to be featured on a new platform that they may not otherwise have access to.
